Dora Garcia

Dora Garcia(Spain/1965) lives and works between Barcellona e Oslo.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, she has been developing conceptual work based around critical approaches to patterns of western thought. Using her knowledge to explore the limits of this thought, her textual and one might even say linguistic work focuses on slippages of meaning, where concepts come face to face with affect; where thought and reason adopt various forms of beliefs and poetics.

Her work has been exhibited in many internationals institutions and biennals and among the others: (d)OCUMENTA 13 Kassel; 54th, 55th, 56th Venice Biennale; 29th São Paulo Biennial;  16th Biennale of Sydney; 10th Lyon Biennial Gwangju Biennial;  Lyon Biennale; 2nd Athens Biennale;  Tate Modern, London; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; Tel Aviv Museum; SMAK, Gent;  Fondation d’Entreprise Hermes, Brussels; Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto; Fonderie Darling - Centre d’arts visuels, Montreal; Punkt Ø, Moss; Centre d’Arts Visuels, Montréal; FRAC Ile-de-Franc;  MNAM - Centre Georges-Pompidou, Paris; MUDAM, Luxembourg; MUSAC - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León; MACBA - Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona; Index Contemporary Art Foundation, Stokholm; Fundació La Caixa, Barcelona; Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid;  MAC’s - Musée des Arts Contemporains, Bossu; MOCAK, Krakow; Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Paris; Henry art Foundation, Seattle. She represented Spain at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011.
